Kai Harding filmmaker Chris Olsen received two nominations September 9th 2008, at the 50th annual Midwest Emmy Awards Nomination Party, held on the 16th floor of Trump’s Chicago Hotel and Tower. The event, hosted by renowned film critic Richard Roeper, recognizes excellence in broadcasting achievements for the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Olsen’s first Emmy nomination was for his recently broadcast film “The Artsiders®” in the category of “Outstanding Achievement for a Documentary of Current Significance.” Crafted from nearly forty hours of footage, Olsen’s documentary weaves intimate discussions with dozens of prolific Midwestern artists, dancers, actors, and performers, into a multi-layered exploration of the artistic life. Olsen’s work was additionally recognized with a second nomination in the category of “Outstanding Achievement for Broadband Informational Program Segment.” The 50th Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards event will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008.
